Matthias is a distinguished leader and worked for more than 25 years in the pharmaceutical-biotech industry. Renowned for a unique blend of scientific expertise, strategic business insight, and a far-reaching professional network, Matthias has consistently driven transformative advancements across various R&D areas. He co-founded and lead Endogena Therapeutics as CEO, bringing two projects into clinical stage with a novel drug discovery concept based on selective regulation of endogenous stem cells to repair and regenerate organs and tissues. Prior to Endogena, he worked as Global Head of Research & Technology Partnering, at Roche, setting up and managing numerous collaborations and acquisitions for novel drug modalities, new drug discovery technologies, as well as enabling technologies, such as translational models, biomarkers, and drug delivery/formulation.
Matthias is an Expert for Innosuisse and served as an executive board member of the Alliance for Regenerative Medicine (ARM), as well as the chair of the industry committee of the International Society of Stem Cell Research (ISSCR). Matthias has a Diploma in Organic Chemistry and Biochemsitry (University of Zürich, Switzerland), and a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Sussex, UK, as well as an MBA from HSG (St. Gallen, Switzerland).
